Cat Training Tips - Using a clicker in cat training

When speaking of a clicker for training purposes, you would normally associate such a device with the training of dogs. However, they are also a very handy tool when it comes to teaching cat tricks or just to make life easier for a cat owner.

As cat training tips go, this could be the one that is relatively unheard of yet has so many great benefits, it should be shouted about! Proving to be a very effective way of rewarding a cat when they have done something right, a clicker can be used alongside other toilet training tips or just general training altogether for a much easier and more enjoyable ride.

When you hand a cat a treat when they have done something that is right, they may not always know exactly what they are being rewarded for so by clicking the clicker device at the same time, they know exactly what they have done right and can then accept the treat and go about their usual routine.

When the cat associated the clicker with a treat, it soon recognizes that when they are being well behaved or have done something good such as using their cat flap rather than pawing at the door or using the litter tray. In many cat training tips books or website, most of them state that getting the cats attention straight after a good action and then providing them with a treat can be more useful than just giving them a treat alone.

Cats will be able to hear sounds such as the clicker much clearer than they can hear a voice so as cat training tips go, the clicking noise could be the best tip you ever picked up. The clickers tone will always stay the same whereas a humans voice changes tone and pitch which means the clicking noise will always be recognized whereas your voice may not. Clickers are also quicker than phrases and one example of this is that is takes longer to say something along the lines of “well done” or “good girl/boy” than it would be to depress the clicking device.

If you are looking for the greatest cat training tips either to teach your cat tricks or just with regards to toilet training tips then using a clicker could just be the perfect thing for both you and your furry pal!
